DYMO LetraTag LT-100H Plus

The Dymo LT-100H is the inexpensive handheld form factor model equivalent to the LT-100T.

This model is fairly standard in terms of functionality and design and this price range. This LT-100H is one of the cheaper options in the range of label makers but don’t let that discourage you. The LT-100H offers a wide range of fonts and symbols to choose from in the comfort of one or two hands. This model is a delight for all users, whether you are printing labels daily or the odd occasions.

Final Thoughts: The DYMO LT-100H is a great choice for those users with general needs. The price is very reasonable and does include tape for straight out-of-the-box action.

Graphical display. See your creations before printing.

Includes a mountable magnetic holder.

Wide range of font and symbol options including language select for English, Spanish and French.

Cons

Screen is not back-lit.

ABC-style keyboard layout may feel unfamiliar for some users.

I use these to label inventory for my business and this works fantastically. It has a convenient memory feature so you can save labels that you know you will use often. Very easy to use and I didn’t need to read any of the instructions.

DYMO Rhino 5200 Industrial Label Maker

The DYMO Rhino 5200 is more than your standard label maker. Marketed at industry professionals, this hand held model is built for tougher conditions. The Rhino itself includes a nice rubber grip to avoid those nasty slip-through-the-finger incidents, whilst the labels themselves are designed for long term adhesion in out of office locations with chemical, heat and UV resistant materials.

Printing wise, the Rhino is a fantastic option. As it is designed for industry in mind, the Rhino includes a library of industry symbols and units. The back-lit large display is perfect for those low lighting environments that contractors would find themselves in and it also includes the ability to save your favorite labels for quick printing.

Final Thoughts: The Rhino 5200 is a beast of a label maker. Considered the go-to label maker for professionals that desire equipment that they can confidently rely on. The Rhino 5200 is quality, but expect a higher price tag.

Pros

Back-lit LCD display.

Meet key ANSI and TIA/EIA-606-A industry labeling standards

Wide range of font and symbol options including language select for English, Spanish and French.

Cons

Battery life is shorter than expected.

ABC-style keyboard layout may feel unfamiliar for some users.

I used it with the vinyl and fabric labels. They come out sharp and does not rub off. I also tried it with the patch panel setting and it fits perfect all the way across 24 ports. The lithium battery is very nice and you can still take it out if you want to use regular AA batteries. The case is sturdy and plastic hinges are strong. The case also gives you space to store around 6 extra ribbons. The LCD screen is clear and the backlighting option is very nice.

The PTD600 is designed for office use and lives up to that. This model can print barcodes and Including a variety of editable common use templates and an extensive library of over 600 symbols and 14 fonts to choose from.

Final Thoughts: The Brother P-Touch PTD600 a perfect fit for office use. As you would expect the PTD600 not only makes designing your labels easy, it also follows up with fast printing and autocutter for even further convience.

Pros

The Brother PTD600 is an outstanding label maker. I run a small nursery and I have used Brother and Dyno devices in the past to create labels for plant tags. I decided to upgrade to the PTD600 because I wanted our logo on the tags. The outputs are outstanding, especially when you select High Resolution in the printer menu.

Brother P-touch Cube Plus PT-P710BT

It may not look all that much from the outside but the P-Touch Cube Plus PT-P710BT is more than meets the eye.

Unlike our other products we have reviewed this is the first that is designed purely to work with input from your devices. What makes it even more powerful is that it not only uses USB to connect to your PC but also has included Bluetooth functionality which can be paired with your smart phone which has a lot of exciting possibilities.

Final Thoughts: The Bluetooth connectivity to smart phones has been long awaited and game changing. Lots of fun can be had with the multitude of apps and software from Brother.

Pros

Supports Bluetooth and USB.

Built-in automatic cutter.

Built-in Li-ion battery.

Cons

Default settings leave a large gap between cuts causing label wastage.

Quality can be dependant on software and parameters. Tweaking maybe involved when using more than one software.

I purchased this for my office, and it is admittedly a great thing to have. The ability to sync the unit with smartphones as well as computers is a god-send. It allows a corporate office to easily share the device without needing to install it on everyone’s computer as most people carry smartphones these days.

Brady BMP21-PLUS Handheld Label Printer

Another label maker for industrial needs, the BMP21-Plus from Brady is another excellent choice in the current market. The BMP21-Plus finds it’s role in quantity over design. It specializes in creating clear labels that stick, quickly!

The body design is solid and built for the tougher conditions with rubber bumbers for grip and protection. Brady have equipped the BMP21-Plus with a rechargeable Li-Ion Battery, however this is sold separately. The display is clear and back-lit with the ABC keyboard layout and separate numeral keys. The labels themselves are high quality in both adhesion and endurance to the environment.

Final Thoughts: The BMP21-Plus will have a special place with those working with cabling. It is easy to handle and the user is able to quickly print labels that they can be confident will hold up for the long term.

Pros

Back-lit LCD display.

In-built cutter and grabber system.

Doesn’t waste label space when auto-cutting

Cons

Rechargeable Li-Ion Battery and AC-adapter are optional purchases.

ABC-style keyboard layout may feel unfamiliar for some users.

It’s so refreshing to buy a product that actually meets and then exceeds your expectations and this label maker certainly qualifies. Operation of this product is very intuitive and is feature rich, so many features that you might have to refer to the manual to take full advantage of its capabilities.
