(Updated 2020)

The convenience of a label printer goes widely unnoticed. Furthermore with alot of label printers and makers now support direct interaction to most mainstream marketpalces like Amazon, Ebay and Etsy, creating labels has never been easier!

Not only is a label printer a great investment to improve efficiency alone; It can also help you spread awareness and strengthen trust and quality to your brand.

Here at Label My World, we have compiled a list of our favorite models that could be considered the best label printer for shipping. Our list will grow over time as we get hand on more models to test. For now, see below for our top picks for best label printer for shipping in 2020.

Placing freshly printed label on a shipping box in an office

Things to consider.

Quality

When anything printing is concerned, quality is a must. The intent on a label is to be viewed so first and foremost we need to consider printing quality; and generally higher quality equals higher cost.

Color or thermal labels?

Is color or thermal best for your shipping labels? This question is not as hard as you may think.

It comes down to the basics; Do you intend to print branding and logos with flair or just plain black and white labels like bar codes or shipping instructions. As thermal printers don’t require ink, they can give you performance and economical advantages over traditional color printers.

Just remember that color isn’t a necessity. If you only intend to print labels with standard shipping information then save yourself some time and money and look at a thermal label printer like the Rollo we have presented today.

Speed

Speed albiet, typically comes at cost of quality greatness, would be a major consideration if you expect high traffic flow. Whether it’s alot of stock needing labels to multiple users all sharing the one printer, you’ll need something that can handle it like the Dymo 450 Turbo. I mean.. it does have turbo in the name.

DYMO LABELWRITER 4XL

The DYMO Labelwriter 4XL boasts a wider body to allow more freedom and versitility in everyday printing needs.

Once the printer is connected to a computer your options are limitless. This model works seamlessly with the provided software giving the printer the ability to print straight from mainstream market platforms such as Ebay and Amazon. The only downsides to this model are simply the natural trade-offs for going with a wider unit. Such as slower printing speeds and taking up more of that precious desk space.

Final Thoughts: The DYMO Labelwriter 4XL is a proficient wide-body model. Including great supporting software that can make the printing process easy and satisfying.

Pros

print directly from DYMO stamps, Ebay, Amazon and Etsy.

Fast printing at 86 mm/s.

Printing resolution of 300 dpi and up to 108 mm wide.

Cons

Wider body means just that. This model will take up more desk space.

Swapping to different label types can become tedious. This can be overcome by purchasing more spools.

We’ve been using this for a couple of years now, printed tens & tens of thousands of labels — shipping labels and Amazon product labels. It makes our jobs so much easier. Rarely jams up, and if it does it’s usually user error. We love it so much that we give it a name.
